Press Release No 10 – June 2010: University Student Prizes – Bitumen Emulsion Paper
The Road Emulsion Association is offering cash prizes in 2010/11 to university final-year undergraduate or post graduate students who are to provide a short paper designed to develop better technical understanding of bitumen emulsions and to raise awareness of the work of the bitumen emulsion supplier in the UK.
The Association sponsors the awards and will welcome interest from any student in a UK civil or pavement engineering, or construction based university department.
Some suggested topics might include “Sustainable road surface treatments using bitumen emulsions”; “How bitumen emulsions reduce the CO2 footprint of highway construction” and “The place of bitumen emulsions in road maintenance”
Interested students should:-
- initially contact the Association’s Secretary & Consultant to express an interest (Office 01903 746584; Mobile 07836 385543; e-mail email@example.com)
- provide details of their present course of study; the stage of the studies and their university head of department’s name and title.
- provide an outline the proposed title of the paper.
Following the initial stages the student needs to:-
(i) submit a paper of between 2,000 and 3,000 words to the Association’s Secretary & Consultant by 31 December 2010
A special committee of members of the Association will judge all submissions and provided that a reasonable number of papers are received, the Association plans to award prizes for 1st place – £700 and 2nd place – £300.
