From the 1st April 2025 the REA will introduce a new safe transfer standard procedure for the transfer of bitumen emulsion products from a delivery tanker to a mobile storage tank (MST). This is the third in the series of establishing an industry safe standard procedure for the transfer of products from a delivery tanker to other receiving containers. The first standard procedure was introduced in 2021 when the REA together with the RSTA published a safe working procedure for the transfer of product from a delivery tanker direct to a road sprayer. The procedure for the transfer of product from a delivery tanker to a road tanker is currently in development and this latest industry standard for the safe transfer from a delivery tanker to an MST will be implemented from the start of the season in 2025.
Mark Stott – Chair of the REA said “These are important steps in the industry setting best practice procedures to ensure all our members employees continue to operate in a safe environment and reduce the risk of an accident or incident whilst undertaking these transfer procedures.”
