On June 13th 2023 the International Bitumen Emulsion Federation (IBEF) held a Seminar to celebrate the 100 years of bitumen emulsion. There were a number of presentations from IBEF (www.ibef.net) members from around the world including a presentation from Kevin Maw (Consultant and Secretary) of the Road Emulsion Association Limited in the UK. Kevin presented a brief history of the REAL and its current primary activities and structure and also focussed on a new campaign being rolled out by the REAL jointly with the Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA) to highlight to central government and local government clients of the importance of using Surface Dressing in a planned maintenance program to protect the UK road network for the future.
